Carabiners & offline route terms

How carabiners and offline routes work, including purchases, refunds and withdrawal.

Terms version 1.0.0 · Effective date: 2026-10-15 · Part of the Summit Fever Terms of use

In short (this summary does not replace the terms below):

  • Carabiners are virtual units for unlocking offline routes. They have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for money.
  • You see the carabiner cost before every unlock, and you can re-download an unlocked route at no extra cost.
  • From the beta version, you can buy carabiners in the app. You see the real-money price before you pay, and Apple or Google handles payment.
  • If you delete your account, unused carabiners and unlocked routes are lost.
  • Your statutory consumer rights are never limited by these terms.

1. Scope

1.1 These terms govern carabiners and the offline routes you unlock with them. They form part of the Summit Fever Terms of Use, which apply to everything not covered here, including the general rules on purchases and subscriptions in section 13. If these terms and the Terms of Use conflict, these terms prevail on their subject.

1.2 They are a contract between you and Giambattista Salvi, Madrid, Spain, NIF/NIE Y8662110W ("Summit Fever", "we", "us"). Contact: support@summitfever.app.

2. What carabiners are

2.1 Carabiners are virtual units you can use within Summit Fever to unlock certain features, currently offline route downloads.

2.2 Carabiners are a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use features of the Service. They are not money, electronic money, a means of payment, a crypto-asset, a financial product or a gift card. They have no monetary value, earn no interest, and cannot be exchanged for money, sold, transferred to another account or used outside Summit Fever, except where mandatory law requires a refund.

2.3 Carabiners are separate from badges, experience points (XP) and levels. Earning achievements does not give you carabiners unless we say so for a specific promotion.

2.4 Carabiners are never needed to take part in a prize challenge, and spending carabiners never improves your chances in one.

3. How you receive carabiners

3.1 Free carabiners. We may credit carabiners free of charge, for example as early-access rewards or in promotions. The conditions shown when we credit them, such as an expiry date, apply.

3.2 Purchased carabiners (from the beta version). You can buy carabiner packages in the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Carabiners are credited to your account once we receive the store's confirmation of payment.

3.3 Carabiners included in other offers. A subscription or other offer may include carabiners, as described in the offer. The offer states whether carabiners included in a subscription expire.

4. Prices and payment

4.1 Before you buy, the app shows the package, the number of carabiners and the total price in your local currency, including VAT and any other taxes.

4.2 Wherever the app shows a price in carabiners, it also shows the approximate equivalent in your local currency, so you can see what you are spending in real money.

4.3 Payment is processed by Apple or Google under their terms. For tax purposes the app store acts as seller, but we remain responsible for providing the carabiners and the routes you unlock with them. We never receive your payment card details.

4.4 We do not use countdown timers or other pressure tactics to push purchases, and we do not sell packages designed to leave you with unusable leftover carabiners.

4.5 If your payment is completed but the carabiners are not credited, contact support@summitfever.app with your store receipt. We will credit them or help you obtain a refund.

5. Unlocking offline routes

5.1 The app shows how many carabiners an offline route costs before you confirm the unlock. Our servers deduct the carabiners when you confirm, and the route becomes available for download.

5.2 An unlocked route gives you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to download the map and route data for that route and use it within the app for as long as your account exists and we offer the Service. You can download an unlocked route again at no extra cost, for example on a new device.

5.3 Downloads need an internet connection and enough storage on your device. Check that a route opens offline before you rely on it in the mountains.

5.4 Route and map data come largely from OpenStreetMap and other sources and may be updated or corrected. They can be incomplete, outdated or wrong, and trails may be closed or impassable. The Safety, Navigation & Assumption of Risk Notice applies to unlocked routes in full. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

6. If something does not work

6.1 You have the statutory rights that apply to digital content and digital services, including the right to carabiners and unlocked routes that conform to the contract.

6.2 If an unlocked route cannot be downloaded or used because of a problem on our side, contact support@summitfever.app. We will fix the problem within a reasonable time, or, if we cannot, restore the carabiners you spent or provide the remedies the law grants you, such as a price reduction or refund.

6.3 Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer. Liability is governed by section 17 of the Terms of Use.

7. Right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU/EEA

7.1 You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a carabiner purchase.

7.2 You lose this right once the carabiners are credited to your account, if, before buying, you expressly agreed that we start supplying them immediately and acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. The purchase screen asks for this agreement and acknowledgment, and we confirm them to you by email.

7.3 If you have not given this agreement and acknowledgment, you can withdraw within 14 days as described in section 22 of the Terms of Use, using the model form in its Annex A if you wish.

7.4 Refunds for purchases made through an app store are processed by Apple or Google under their refund procedures. This does not limit your statutory rights against us.

7.5 If Apple or Google refunds a carabiner purchase, or a payment is reversed, we may deduct the corresponding carabiners from your balance. If they have already been spent, we may remove the related route unlocks.

8. Errors and corrections

8.1 If carabiners are credited or deducted in error, for example because of a technical fault or a duplicate transaction, we may correct your balance and will tell you if we do.

8.2 If carabiners were deducted but the route was not unlocked, we restore them.

9. Expiry

9.1 Purchased carabiners do not expire while your account exists.

9.2 Free carabiners may expire as stated when we credit them. If no expiry date is stated, they do not expire while your account exists.

10. Account deletion, termination and discontinuation

10.1 If you delete your account, your carabiner balance and unlocked routes are permanently lost and cannot be restored, refunded or transferred. The app warns you, and shows your balance, before you confirm deletion. If you have unused purchased carabiners, you can ask us before deleting your account whether a refund is possible.

10.2 If we terminate your account because of a serious breach of the Terms of Use, your carabiners and unlocked routes are forfeited, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.

10.3 If we discontinue carabiners, offline routes or the Service, we will give you at least 60 days' notice. You can use your carabiners and download unlocked routes until then. We will refund unused purchased carabiners in proportion to the price paid.

11. Minors

Users under 18 need the permission of a parent or guardian to buy carabiners. We recommend that parents use the purchase controls offered by Apple and Google.

12. Fair use

You must not manipulate carabiner balances or unlocks, exploit bugs to obtain carabiners or routes, buy or sell carabiners or accounts outside the app, or make fraudulent payment chargebacks. We may correct balances and take the measures described in section 15 of the Terms of Use.

13. Changes

13.1 We may change the carabiner cost of unlocks, the routes available or the packages offered, for future transactions only. Carabiners already credited and routes already unlocked are not affected.

13.2 Material changes to these terms follow section 19 of the Terms of Use: they apply to you only once you have expressly accepted them.

14. Applicable law and disputes

Sections 20 (Applicable law and disputes) and 21 (Country-specific provisions) of the Terms of Use apply. Please contact support@summitfever.app first if you have a problem.

15. Country-specific information

15.A Spain

15.A.1 For consumers in Spain, the right of withdrawal and its exception for digital content supplied immediately follow the Spanish consumer protection law (TRLGDCU, in particular Article 103(m)). We confirm your agreement and acknowledgment on a durable medium, such as an email.

15.A.2 You can also contact the consumer protection authorities of your autonomous community or your municipal consumer information office (OMIC).

15.B Italy

15.B.1 For consumers in Italy, the right of withdrawal and its exception for digital content supplied immediately follow the Italian Consumer Code (Codice del Consumo, in particular Article 59(1)(o)), and your rights to conforming digital content are not affected by these terms.

15.C Switzerland

15.C.1 Swiss law does not provide a statutory right of withdrawal for online purchases. Apple's and Google's refund procedures and your statutory rights apply.

15.C.2 Prices for users in Switzerland are shown in Swiss francs including VAT, as required by the Swiss Price Indication Ordinance.

15.C.3 For consumers in Switzerland, these terms are governed by Swiss law, as described in section 21.C of the Terms of Use.
