Summit Fever / Account deletion
Delete your account
How to permanently delete your Summit Fever account and associated data.
In short:
- Delete your account in the app (Logbook → Profile → Account and privacy → Delete account) or by emailing support@summitfever.app.
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your profile, summit history, progress and carabiners are lost.
- A small amount of data remains for a limited time, for example in backups (7 days) and crash reports (90 days).
- Uninstalling the app or signing out does not delete your account.
- If you have a subscription, deleting your account does not cancel it. Cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play settings.
1. Delete your account in the app
1. Connect to the internet and sign in to Summit Fever.
2. Open Logbook → Profile → Account and privacy.
3. Select Delete account, then confirm Permanently delete account.
4. Wait for the confirmation. If deletion fails, try again or contact support.
If you signed in with Apple, you may need to sign in with Apple again and repeat the deletion, so that we can disconnect Summit Fever from your Apple ID. A profile photo that is still under review can briefly delay deletion.
2. Request deletion without the app
You don't need to reinstall the app. Email support@summitfever.app with the subject Delete my Summit Fever account.
- Send it from your account's email address if possible, and say how you sign in (email, Google or Apple).
- If you use Apple's Hide My Email, include the relay address if you know it.
- If you can no longer access that email address, tell us, and we will offer an appropriate way to confirm that the account is yours.
Never send passwords, verification codes or identity documents in your request. We may need to verify that the account is yours before deleting it. We will confirm when deletion is complete or tell you what information we still need. Deletion is normally completed within 14 calendar days of receiving your request, including any verification.
3. What is deleted
When deletion succeeds, we remove:
- your sign-in account and the link to Google or Apple sign-in, including the stored Apple token;
- your profile, display name and all avatar images (pending, approved and earlier ones);
- your summit history, recorded GPS tracks, notes, statistics, badges, levels and challenge progress;
- your community participation: your acceptance of the Community Guidelines, follows, followers and blocks, and your activity in community features;
- reports you submitted;
- your carabiner balance and offline-route unlocks.
The device you use to delete your account also clears that account's local data.
Deletion is permanent. You lose your progress and cannot undo the deletion. Everything linked to your account is lost and cannot be refunded or transferred after deletion: carabiners (purchased or free), unlocked routes, one-time purchases and any remaining subscription time. If you have unused purchased carabiners, contact support@summitfever.app before deleting your account to ask whether a refund is possible (Carabiners & Offline Route Terms, section 10.1).
4. What can remain, and for how long
| Data | Why it remains | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Database backups | Recovery from technical failures | Rolling 7-day window; deleted records disappear when the backups containing them expire |
| Analytics data (only if you had enabled analytics) | Already collected by Google Analytics for Firebase | User- and event-level data: 2 months, removed through Google's monthly deletion process. Aggregated reports contain no personal data |
| Crash reports (only if you had enabled crash reports) | Already collected by Firebase Crashlytics | 90 days, after which Google begins removing them from active systems and backups |
| Security logs | Protecting the service against abuse | 30 days from collection |
| Support correspondence | Handling your request and any follow-up | 90 days after the request is closed |
| Moderation records, including reports other members made about you | Handling appeals and safety issues | 180 days after the case is closed |
| Purchase and transaction records | Spanish commercial and tax law | 6 years from the end of the financial year, or longer where tax law requires; kept blocked |
Records needed for an ongoing investigation, dispute or legal obligation are kept only for that purpose and only until the need ends. Where we must keep data after deletion for legal reasons, we block it as Spanish law requires: it is stored separately with restricted access, used only for that purpose, and deleted when the period ends.
5. What we cannot delete for you
- Other devices. Copies on other phones or tablets where you used Summit Fever are not erased remotely. Clear the app's storage or uninstall the app on each device, and remember that device backups may contain copies.
- Copies shared with others. Summit photos you shared to other apps, and copies of your public profile photo that others have already saved, are outside our control.
- Google and Apple accounts. Deleting Summit Fever does not delete your Google or Apple account. Purchase records held by Apple or Google stay with them.
- Pre-release data. Local data from pre-alpha versions that was never linked to an account may need separate cleanup. Contact support before clearing it if you want to keep anything.
6. Things that do not delete your account
Uninstalling the app, signing out, or disconnecting Google or Apple sign-in does not delete your Summit Fever account or the data stored on our servers. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription: cancel it in your store account settings, otherwise you may continue to be charged. Signing out also keeps your data on the device so you can sign in again; on a shared device, delete your account or clear the app's storage.
7. Deleting specific data or exercising other rights
You don't have to delete your whole account to control your data. You can:
- edit your profile, clear optional fields and change your analytics and crash-report choices in the app;
- ask us to delete specific data while keeping your account;
- ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or object to processing.
Contact info@summitfever.app (privacy) or support@summitfever.app and describe your request. We respond within one month (EU) or 30 days (Switzerland). See our Privacy Policy at https://summitfever.app/legal/privacy.html for your rights and our retention periods.
